Our estimates indicate that we can build the proposed site for approximately $10 to $12 million as opposed to the $40 million asked for by Greyhounds Queensland to build Logan.
The new development would see the inclusion of possible three clubs which will result in a considerable savings to the industry in administration costs. Currently the administration costs for each club are as follows:
 Gold Coast - $513,000
 Capalaba - $115,000
There would be considerable savings by having only one administration. Additionally, income will be generated from sale of food and beverages which is not currently part of the income stream of the Gold Coast and Brisbane Clubs. The sooner a Club is developed as a 7 day super centre for racing and trialing greyhounds the sooner these administration costs can be realised along with the increase in income. There will also be security of tenure for track employees who, because of the uncertain nature of the industry are generally only employed on a casual basis.
An approach has been made to Gold Coast City Council and officers have been given a verbal commitment to fast tracking the development of a track in this city.
Once the committee has the approval of government, it is estimated by the architect, that the project could be completed in 10 to 12 months. This will be approximately 12 to 18 months ahead of the Logan proposal which appears to have stalled again.
